    2320 underpowered

Alright everyone I need help. I have a 2320 with many attachments but my father in law and I use the tractor the most for cutting the lawn with the 54 inch deck. We really feel the deck is under powered. It doesn't seem to throw grass good enough, the deck is always getting caked with grass, adding the bagger system only slows it down further.

The tractor is great with everything else, loader, backhoe, tiller, plow etc. But the mower deck.... Not great.

Any ideas on how to improve this? Can i add the mulching system or will it be too underpowered for it? Are there any modifications you can make to improve power to the deck specifically?

    Please help with any ideas.

First question - are you running it at wide open throttle when mowing?

My first question would be "Are you running it at WOT when you mow?" It seems like rpms is the biggest game changer.

Now you say the deck is underpowered, so not sure what you're asking.
    1) as asked, what RPM are you running the tractor at when you are mowing?
    2) How tall is the grass you are mowing?
    3) How far are you expecting the clippings to be blown?

I have a 2320 and 54 deck and have never had an issue. Cuts nice and throws farther than my neighbors box store lawn tractors or Z. I'd say 2-3 mower widths in cut grass.
I cut my grass to a height of ~ 3.25", and it's usually 4.5" or so average when I mow.
I generally run between 2500 and WOT, depending on my mood and how quick I want to get done.
Speed, usually around full pedal in low, or mid in high.
Yes, grass will stick to the bottom of the deck, that's life in mowing grass. Mulching or bagging will increase this as there is resistance so the clipping are staying under the deck longer.
A larger factor is moisture on the grass. If the grass is wet, it will stick worse. Also, variety of grass makes a difference. Wide bladed grass generally has more moisture content therefore is more likely to stick as well.

The other variable that needs to be assessed is what is the type and condition of the blades on the tractor? Maybe a new set of high lift blades at a higher RPM will better meet expectations.

That wouldn’t make any since to me. What is the horsepower at the pto on a 2320. Has to be more than a x500 series. My x580 with a 54 inch deck has plenty of power, you have to have more than I do. I even lose a lot of what I have because of being belt driven. You are shaft and gear. 2320 should have plenty of power for a properly sized and functioning deck.

Actually both are rated at 24 hp.
PTO hp on the 2320 is 18. However, there's more torque available as it's a diesel.

The difference is in the decks. Depth of deck, blade tip speed, flow design all play a part on how it throws clippings.

Are the blades worn out? I have seen blades where there is plenty of cutting edge left, but the the curved up part of the blades is worn off.

I run a 62D on my 2320 and find it has plenty of power for mowing. I have taken the deflector flap off during spring mowing due to the clumping and thick growing grass but never had any concerns with its power. Run at WOT low range and off I go. I am always amazed at the cut it performs. I did switch to gator blades a few years ago and made an improvement in the clipping management but I now also run a cyclone rake the first few cuttings to collect my compost for the year and keep the yard clean. I dont bag much after the first few cuttings.

ENZODAST, Did you buy the 2320 new with the mower deck?
Seems every one is either missing the boat or there is more to the your story?
