Bent my rear Draft Latch (LVA20962) - can I still mow?

Through a series of unfortunate events, I bent my rear draft latch (actually ripped the weld on one end). (1025r, 60D deck)

I wired it out of the way, and pivoted the latch so that it is hold my deck in place, and ran a pin through one of the holes that appears to be to lock them into place. My deck is now connected (though the pto underneath didn't want to align, which is a little disconcerting).

My question is if I am risking anything (long term damage) by mowing like this while I wait for the replacement part. It looks to be a pretty simple mechanical piece, but always up for a little peace of mind.

    TIA!

Is this a mid-mount mower or a 3PH mounted finish mower? A photo would be helpful.

Noticed the photo you added. That part has been a problem for others as well. You might be able to straighten it out to keep the deck engaged. If it's too mangled then replace it to insure your auto connect deck works properly.

MMM- 60D auto connect drive over..

It *seemed* to be mowing fine once I had the wife there connect while I watched it connect. The rear latch has a spring that looks to keep tension, but other than that it appears to be completely isolated.

I think I am safe to keep using it while I wait for the replacement (probably later this week), but others would know better than me- thats why I love this place!

The right side locks.. I made the left side lock by running a little bolt through two holes that align when the latch is in place. As long as it is holding the MMM in place, i should be ok to use in the meantime, right?

    Thanks!

As long as the deck is secured, and the driveshaft is ok (please inspect that thoroughly as I suspect that's the cause of this incident), you should be fine until new parts show up.

I think I caught it while back over with mid mount hydraulics down (after having them up when I drove over to attach). The autoconnect driveshaft didn't want to stay parallel after that, but rather going nose down a little, but after pointing it up a bit it went right now.

This was actually my first time putting my mower on this year... looks like I was rusty and cost myself with a pretty big fail... :/

If both sides are latched, the mower shouldn't come off. My concern would be the cause and if the deck is properly set-up. ie.. the geometry of the lift and autoconnect driveshaft. Too much stress on the autoconnect drive could possibly take out the u-joints and/our the shaft itself.
