    1025r Air Cleaner Questions

The issue with the air cleaners on the 1025r, from 2013 to some time in 2018 has caused some concern with tractor owners. Some have already replaced the air cleaner assembly at their own costs. Some have had their air cleaner replaced by their dealer, a couple of required a new engine due to the damage from the air cleaner mounting system breaking the valve cover and depositing metal pieces into the engine.

In the discussion threads, some indicate they are waiting for Deere to take a formal approach with a manufacturer paid replacement program before they will take any action. Others have said they will just leave the air cleaner as it is and should it cause engine damage, they plan to "go after" Deere at that point and make them replace the engine. There are others who have discussed this issue with their dealers and waiting to find out who is going to pay for the replacement of the air cleaner assembly.

So, if you have a 2013 to 2018 John Deere 1025r what are your plans for your tractors air cleaner assembly? Or what actions have you already taken to resolve this issue?

Note, the 1023e uses either the original system used on the 1026r or the new system used on the 2018 and newer machines. So, this issue doesn't impact either the 1026r or the 1023e, just the 1025r model tractors until the new system was used in early 2018 models.

Mine is still under warranty. No problems but I'm keeping a close eye. If anything breaks I'll be asking for a free retrofit. If I see anything suspicious with the valve cover, I'll be jumping on it. I check every time I use the tractor now. When my coverage runs out I'm going to retrofit even if I have to pay out of pocket. I'm not going to purposely break something to get the retrofit. I wouldn't feel right about it.

    Sulley,

I voted for my son, as he doesn't frequent the forum much at all. As an FYI, my 2018 1025R purchased in June of 2018, already had the updated air cleaner from the factory. My son purchased his in March of 2018, with the old design. However, his tractor was produced sometime in February. I contacted our dealer for my son, in return the service manager contacted his JD rep, and they agreed to replace his at no charge. Apparently sometime in April or May, JD started using the new design on all 1025R's.

I bought the parts and installed them myself last fall. I hadn’t had any issues with my old air cleaner bracket at all but didn’t want to take the chance heading into winter. My 1025r is a 2014 model

I read this on the initial post:

Note, the 1023e uses either the original system used on the 1026r or the new system used on the 2018 and newer machines. So, this issue doesn't impact either the 1026r or the 1023e, just the 1025r model tractors until the new system was used in early 2018 models.

It befuddles me why they would be good to start with then change to different (creating a problem) when what they had was without issues. Generally when something works well .......why change it?

If it was the cut cost it had to do the exact opposite in the over all picture.

I have a 2014 1025R. I bought the parts and replaced myself this spring for piece of mind. I also think it runs quieter without so much rattling.

At this point I'm in the process, I guess, of trying to get the parts for free to do myself. I'll know more about what I am looking at in just a bit, then I have to put the old one back on since I have stuff to do. However, I'll be back in touch w/the dealer tomorrow.

I just wanna throw this out there again, in case some people haven't seen it. This was posted by jd110 in another thread:

"The bulletin states that tractors affected were built between June 2015 and April 2018."

I don't know if it's 'Program # 18LV188' , 'DTAC: number 116873' or 'Solution #113718 that states that. jd110's post is the only time I've seen mention of the affected dates.
