400 Hours - Completed Hydraulic Oil Change on 1025R

My 1025R is just shy of 400 hours, so I decided to get the transmission/hydraulic oil system changed today.

I have changed it at 50 and 200 hours. The first change had quite a bit of metal shavings and sealant at the screen inside the transmission case. The second change had a lot less, but still some metal shavings.

This is the third change on this machine. When draining the oil, it seemed to be very clean, but when looking at it in the drain pan it did show up darker. Not really surprised by this.
The screen was about what I expected it to look like. Small metal fragments, especially on the bottom where the magnet is inside the screen. Other than that, it was just a normal oil change and thought I would share my findings on the 400 hour service.

Here's a few pictures of the screen, the inside of the casing, and pictures in general.

I also changed out the fuel filters now, which I do on a yearly basis, or as necessary.
Side by side comparison of the used vs. new filters.

Everything looks excellent. Nothing there to raise any concerns.

Do you run any fuel treatment regularly in your diesel fuel?

What was the brown looking thing on the screen near the end of it, is it a remnant of the RTV sealant?

    I use Stanadyne regularly.

Not sure what that brown spot was on the screen. I probably should have inspected it closer.

What do you think constitutes that black stuff on the filters. I changed the little one this summer and it was worse than yours.

If it is impurities, I don't see how that much can get into the fuel. However my large filter was much cleaner than yours.

Metal shavings most likely. I think you’ll find it sticks to the magnet.

i think he meant fuel filters. my 2015 1025r has the original fuel filters and they are still bright orange. A little over 100 hours, but my tractors are stored indoors and i always use a fuel funnel with a fine mesh screen that catches any junk before it gets in the tank.

Nice job on the hydro change, everything looks real nice!

Not sure. I don't buy my diesel from the same place every time, if that has anything to do with it. I do use an algaecide called Bio-Kleen, but only sparingly, usually in the summer when the humidity is high. I use this to help prevent algae from growing inside the tank. It does not take very much in a 5 gal. can, which is what I use to fill my tank. Never had a problem and no ill effects that I can tell on the Yanmar engine.

If it weren't for that brown spot I would've have sworn that was my screen when I did my 200 hr service, looked just like your's.
