    650 front axle lube

Does anyone know what fluid is used in the front diff/axle and how much? I am assuming the same hydrolic fluid that is in the tranny and rear axle.

    Yea,,,
    or
    Nay

on the subject of switching to synthetic 90WT for the front axle??

I normally switch EVERYTHING to synthetic,,, but, the 650 is unique.

In 50 hours of use this summer (my first summer with the 650),,,
the 4WD has been engaged MAYBE 30 seconds total.

So, the 90WT only acts as a bearing lube for the front wheels,
and a lube for the non-loaded axles,, etc,,,

That is totally different than the rear axle in my '99 Silverado,,
it gets high torque every time my wife drives the truck,, (she is a lead foot!! )

I know the 650 is different than my 2520 but...after reading the horror stories of these front ends that went bad and the thousands of dollars in parts to fix them, I put exactly what the manufacturer says to put in mine which is the Deere GL5.

A quality synthetic 90 wt oil that is the correct spec should be better than any dino oil. Including Deere dino oil. The truck would definitely benefit. What do you use?
