slowing down the boom on 1025r

I bought a used 1025r with backhoe. In practicing with the backhoe, the left hand control of the main boom is very fast. Often when I want to retract the boom, it very forcibly runs into full retraction up against the frame of the backhoe. I operate the backhoe at idle engine speed, which is about 1400-1500 rpm.

No harm done, but it rattles me. It also causes me to be very careful with pulling back on the handle to retract the boom, so much that it is a distraction. Is there a way I can slow down that boom action. I don't care if that slowing down takes me a little longer to dig a hole. Thanks in advance.

Practice , practice , practice !!!!! Learning to feather the controls is what I have been working on myself .
Are you sure you're tractor is idling at only 1500 ? I think it should be 1600 - 1650 . Have fun with the tractor .

If you run over 2k rpm it is much easier to feather the controls and get smoother operation.

Start playing video games... Its the jerkiest BH boom you'll encounter.

If the controls are not lubed, lube them good so you can make smaller finer adjustments.
