    8520 Pedal Tractor

Well I took it apart to see what I would need to fix it. Got ahold of Dakotah Toys and ordered what I will need. $102.00 later I received the parts today. Still need to get the paint. Washed all of the parts but getting the old decals off is posing a problem. Will have to work on that some more. Here is a before I washed it pic. Click image for larger version.

Levi, try a heat gun to remove the decals, that usually works well.

I use a heat gun, then lacquer thinner to clean off any leftover adhesive.

    Nice project BTW!

Didn't even think of the heat gun. Guess it's time to use it. Thanks everyone.

Naphtha or mineral spirits usually works pretty good at getting decal goo off without worrying about the destructive nature of laquer thinner. I like naphtha because it's less oily than mineral spirits.

Painted a few things but the tractor needs a repair with welding. Finding out tomorrow if this can be done.

What kind of repair? What kind of metal is it?

If it's pot metal, JB Weld may be your only option; but there are far smarter people than me on this site that probably know better.

Not sure if it's pot metal or cast. It's worn by the pedals about an 8th of an inch on one side. Thought about the JB weld but have a guy going to look at it today and see if it can be welded. If not I'll give JB weld a try.
