    Recommend diesel fuel hose

I have noticed some leaks in the fuel hoses on my Tier II JD 6415. It has two fuel filters, external pump, and fuel cooler. The first leaks were at the cooler. I at first thought the pinch clamps were not strong enough and replaced them with gear clamps.

Still leaking. I was able to cut an inch off the lines and reattach. Leaks fixed. so it was the hose failing.

Next leak was a hose from the final fuel filter to the injection pump. I also cut an inch off that hose and fixed the leak.

Also all the hoses are P/N L65382 (I assume cut from bulk) except the one from the final fuel filter to the injection pump, it's P/N L65383. Both hoses look the same, but I can not find any specs for either P/N. They both appear to be 1/4" ID hose. Maybe a typo in the parts catalog?

I know I can't keep shortening the hoses and should replace them all. I also saw other posts with JD original hoses leaking or dry rotting. This braided cloth covered, rubber? hose.

Should I buy JD hose or is there a better hose to buy?

Key 5 in the first drawing is final filter to injection pump hose P/N L65383
    Keys, 1, 2, 3, 7, 8, 41, and 46 are the hoses in the second drawing P/N L65382

    Replacement Diesel Fuel Hose

Remember the name GATES. Makes rubber fuel hose, and has been for many years. Check a real parts house like NAPA, and let them match id. I replaced all of the John Deere lines on my 5065E. The original had cracked so badly they were sucking air through the skin an fuel system was losing prime.

Way to go Mr John Deere for using quality components.

What do you think of GATES BARRICADE GreenShield Technology fuel/fuel injection hose?

I found it rated at 50psi (fuel) and 225psi (fuel injection).

    GATES P/N 27313 for 1/4" ID, 25', 50psi
    GATES P/N 29339 for 1/4" ID, 25', 225psi

I need about 20', so a 25' roll looks like the best buy.

No response, so I ordered the 225psi hose. NAPA wanted $4.99/foot. I found a 25' roll for $23 shipped.

    Update:

I had to order more hose. The one hose I measured, key 8, first drawing, was 1/4" ID, so I bought 25' 1/4"ID Gates hose. IT Was the ONLY hose that was 1/4" ID That's what I get for picking the easiest hose to remove to measure ( it was also leaking at the end and I cut 1" off to stop the leak) . Any one need 1/4" ID hose? I used less than 1' from a 25' roll.

All the rest were 5/16" ID, so I had to buy another 25' roll of 5/16"

The Gates hose has a larger OD than the OEM hose, so none of the OEM clamps worked, except I used two of the OEM 1/2" clamps from the 5/16" ID hose on the 1/4" ID gates hose. OEM 5/16"ID hose was about 1/2" OD, Gates 5/16" ID hose was 9/16" OD. Clamps have been ordered. I need 18 and had to buy a 40pc pack. Anyone need clamps, I'll have extra?

The hoses to and from the fuel cooler had convoluted tubing on them. No way the new hose will go into the OEM tubing (it's not split loom). I could not find 5/8" ID non split convoluted tubing, so I have 5/8" ID split loom ordered. It should not be a problem, since it's only there to protect the hose from abrasions.

I put it all back together without clamps to keep the system clean (I did not know I would need clamps until after I had pulled all the old lines off) I will just not run the engine until the clamps are installed.

The Gates Barricade is a good choice, it is what I use as well.
