    6400 canister block heater placement

I did some searching on here for a mention of canister heater placement. I don't want to use the very slow factory block heater any more, I have the canister type heater on my 4020 and it only takes 20 minutes. My 6400 will barely start after being plugged in for 3 hours or more. My block heater is probably bad but I want a faster heater. I want to tie into the heater hoses going to the cab or the ones that go to the oil cooler. The hoses going to the cab are the most convenient, but would probably have to make sure the knob in cab is turned to heat for that to work right and could be a bad situation if not in the heat position. The heater says it needs to be plumbed correctly to work and not ruin it. That being said I need to know the direction of flow to plumb it up. anybody know which hoses flow in which direction (I'm talking the 1/2" or 5/8"hoses)

Flow is from engine block to cab (yes there is a valve) then back to the water pump. I am not sure hose sizes, but you should be able to trace them to determine which is which.

    found the answer

I guess I found the answer to my own question but will post in case someone wants to do the same. The front hose is the return and the one I will use.

Looks like you chose the engine oil cooler. I was thinking you wanted the cab heater circuit.

I was afraid I would forget and turn the temperature knob to cool and burn up the heater. If I use the oil cooler lines I cant forget anything... I'm very forgetful, too many welding fumes for too many years.
