    John Deere 1020 Clutch Question?

I have a 1966 John Deere 1020. Can anyone tell from this picture if this is a two-stage clutch. When running the tractor it acts like single stage clutch, but I am not sure if the tractor has a non-working two stage clutch.

I don’t think they had a 2 stage clutch as that was in early tractors. FYI, that is a modern tractor in old tractor speak. 2 stage clutch in a tractor typically means part way in stops the transmission, push further and the pto stops. On that you should have a separate lever for the pto that does not require the transmission clutch to engage or stop the pto.

JD 1020 could have a 2 stage clutch which JD engineers called "continuous running pto". A few 1020's were sold with trans driven pto's & a small % were sold with hyd ind. pto with a control lever between the 2 trans shift levers. I remember selling these model tractors when they were ""new"" while I was employed by JD dealer. I think pressure plate in photo is for dual stage clutch because single stage pressure plate doesn't show the double nuts shown in OP's photo. Photo below is of single stage PP components with no nuts.

Thank you very much!! The dealer that I deal with was not sure if it was a single or two-stage clutch. Appreciate the effort!
