    PTO problem 1972 1520

PTO engages and disengages fine with bush hog not attached. As soon as I attach the 7’ bush hog I can’t get the PTO to engage. Just grinds.... any help would be very appreciated. Tried putting the clutch in, no help. If I turn the tractor off and engage the PTO then start the tractor it’s fine. Just have to jump it off my truck..... may be a charging issue with the alternator.

    Welcome to GTT
I'm guessing your tractor has dual stage clutch pto. Have you checked clutch pedal free travel? Your tractor's pto engagement difficulty sounds typical for a pto clutch plate stuck to pressure plate. Remove frt inspection cover on clutch housing & spray brake cleaner on clutch assembly then engage pto with rotary mower attached, tie clutch down, start engine & let tractor get to operating temp to see if clutch will unstick. If clutch doesn't free up then tractor will require a split to correct problem
