    5045E Battery

The Battery has died on my 2009 5045E. The battery the came in the tractor was installed by the previous owner. It is a group 27 battery. 810 CCA and 1000 CA. My question is , would the group 27 battery be the OEM size battery? There is enough space for the larger group 34 battery. My tractor is really slow to start on cold winter days and I am thinking the higher cranking amp battery would be beneficial. What are your thoughts? Also should I buy an AGM battery or another lead acid? My tractor sits without getting used most of the time. I would say It gets used once a month to about 6 weeks depending on the season.

The battery that Deere puts in that tractor is a 27 size and if nothing is wrong with your charging system it should last for a long time if you buy the Deere strongbox battery TY25272. They use that battery in larger tractors with no issues, including the 5075E.

Why buy the dry charged battery when you can get the same battery wet charged for $60 less.

Dry charged could possibly remain in service longer after purchase, Depends on how long wet charged battery has been sitting in inventory since it was filled with acid. YMMV

WET-CHARGED: The lead-acid battery is filled with electrolyte and charged when it is built. ... DRY-CHARGED: The battery is built, charged, washed and dried, sealed, and shipped without electrolyte. It can be stored for up to 18 months. When put into use, electrolyte and charging are required.
