    2030 Park Gear

We just purchased a 2030 for beach launching a boat. The tractor was rebuilt by a previous owner and appears to be in very good condition although Iím concerned about parking on a slope. Is there a way to lock it in the park gear? Iíve noticed that when parked ie. shifter in 4th and left lever in park, I can pull the left lever out of park quite easily and off it rolls. Iím concerned my 8 year old could accidentally knock it out of park and not be able to press the brake pedals hard enough to stop it. Unfortunately we have limited parking areas so it will most likely be parked on a slope when not in use. Any help greatly appreciated.

I am guessing your tractor does not have the park lock assurance kit Bolts to steering column, two bolts that will already be there.

Also you put the transmission in 1st gear, not 4th.

With the park lock assurance kit, gear lever moves a part in the kit that allows the R, I, II lever to be placed in Park, which locks the gear lever in 1st.

Thanks. That looks exactly like the parts I need. Do you know any possible suppliers of these parts? I’ve attached a picture of my levers.

Do you think I could just get part 1&2 and use the existing lever?

NO existing shift lever will not work correctly with keys 1 & 2. I think a tractor salvage yard should have the required parts.

John Deere Dealer or tractor salvage yard, other model JD utility tractors had the park lock, not just 2030s.

No for the existing lever. The lever used for park lock is spring loaded to bend, reason for the upper boot, to engage the park lock. You will not notice the lever bending when shifting ranges, only when putting in or out of park lock.

You can reuse your lever's red knob. I am unsure about the parts to mount the lever to transmission cover that holds both levers. I've only experience with mine and it's park lock lever. I have replaced both lower boots twice, a must to keep water out of the transmission.
