I have a 318 with a smaller 46" deck. The seller says this deck fits a 214. It looks like the only modification is removing the existing draft arms and putting in the JD draft arm bar (for the 300 series).

I need to get an idea of the size. If this is a 46" I might just leave it. I'm really looking for the original 50...

Hmmm... Does it have a tag on it somewhere? Maybe this will be of use:

    1997 MODEL (SERIAL NO. M00673X150001- )

But there also an older 47" mower deck that was used on the early 200-series lawn tractors.

    47 ROTARY MOWER
    1968-1982 (SERIAL NO. 100001-488000)

The 214 was made from 1975 to 1987 so the deck could be either.

Steppin, As far determine the width of cut, turn deck over and measure the ends of the blades. If the blades don't want to align, measure from end of outer blade to deck, then measure the same on the other side. measure overall width of deck housing and subtract the 2 measurement. Example: Tip to side 3/4', tip to side other blade 3/4", deck 47 1/2" equals 46" cut.

As far as mounting a jd draft arm BAR, it looks like BAR is gonna hit center drive pulley. Also,m check mounting arrangment on end of draft bars, some are pins w/springs, some are just holes...with pin & springs on frame of tractor.

Don't forget the 300 series decks have the drive pulley in the front on the center spindle. Gear drive models have the drive pulley in the rear as shown in the photo. I believe the rear type drive interferes with the hydro pipe or filter if mounted to a hydro model.

    Thanks guys,

It's just so hard finding these decks. I have a 46" deck mounted on my 318, but it's the only deck I have. It's a parody seeing a guy selling a rusted out deck for 800 bucks....

It’s not a 50, it is a 47 for gear drives as stated. It can be converted to a 318 fairly easily. Spindle, drive pulley and draft arms.
