    318 park brake

Hello all I was hoping you could help me. My 88 318 park brake isnt working at all. The brake pedal works and each side works independently as should but when I use knob to set park brake nothing happens. Can anyone shed light on what to check for

    Bob,

Not sure what you mean by "nothing happens"...are you using the procedure shown in the OMM87709 operators manual as seen below?

It may be just an adjustment. Do you have the TM1590 Technical Manual that shows these procedures.

I found on mine, with the brakes adjusted properly, I have to press fairly hard on the pedals to get it to lock into the park position. Harder than Id have thought anyway.
You are pushing it to the limit basically, as you have to take up some of the spring tension as well.

If yours wont do that, Id check the linkage and make sure everything is moving freely, and make sure they arent adjusted too tightly.
