430 60 inch mower deck "dating"

As I look for parts to rebuild the mover deck I run into "before or after serial number 525001"....The bad part is the mover deck is missing the serial number label..Are numbers stamped into it somewhere? The tractor is number 317732...a 1985 model...If I assume the deck is original to the tractor, I have found info that a 1985 60 inch deck would be a serial number higher than 525001, would this be correct? Are there any visual differences between the early and late decks? Thanks

Attached is the parts catalog PC 1959 for the 50 mower deck showing year of application per serial number range and detailed exploded views showing any parts that are serial number specific. I glanced through it and found very little that was dependent on the earlier serial number break at SN 52501, particularly on the 400 series tractors...but do your own analysis.

Never one to disagree with Chuck but if you have the 60" deck, I think the information is in PC1928. I would go to jdparts catalog key in PC1928 and search around to see if you see some differences. I think early had Curtis gearbox and later had Peerless but my memory is foggy.

Edit: found this attached from PC1928

The one in that picture is >525,000 and <505,000. It has 4 wheels, and bolt on spindle covers.

Yes -- I was wrong in thinking this thread was about the 50 inch deck... Sorry! It was a bit misleading the '84 to '85 serial number break for each of these decks was at 525001 and I just got further afield after that.

I can make a big mistake as well as anyone...

It looks like it’s over 525,000. I see clips for the spindle covers.
