Couldn't Pass Up This Deal--- Money Wise.

My neighbor has been mowing with a Country Clipper for 10 years, and last summer he had a lot of trouble(s) and I mowed his 5 acres couple times. Yesterday, he called and ask if I would haul his C. Clipper on my tandem trailer up to the John Deere dealer and pick up his new 2018 JD Z960R the dealer just got in. When we got there it wasn't fully ready as they hadn't installed the Tweels tires he wanted. I ask him (Paul) what they gave him in trade for the factory tires...24 x 12-12 Kenda brand. He said they would give him $50.00. I told Paul I would give him $150.00 for the tires and rims. He accepted. Paul ask me what size tires was on my Z710A. I said...22 x 11-10.

So, I have a new set of Kenda 24 x 12-12 Turf Masters out here in the garage ready to install on the Z710A. I see no problem with the larger size other than I will have a adjust the mower deck height settings for the extra 2" in the height of the tractor.

    "Something Don't Add Up"

I bought these Kenda 24 x 12-12 Turf Master tires from my neighbor as the above post stated, and installed them on my Z710A today. They replaced the original 22 x 11-10 tires. However, there is something strange here on the dimensions.
With the Z710A with the new tires setting on the concrete garage floor... from bottom of tire to top of tire it measurers 22-1/2" tall. And 12" wide sidewall to sidewall. I also have a 1999 JD 345 with 23 x 10.5 -12 tires and they measure from floor to top of tire 23" tall. Please read what I just typed very careful. The 24 x 12-12 is 1/2" less in height than the ones on the 345 tractor. Don't make sense, or does it?

Here are some other dimensions on the Z710A. Before I switch the tires. From rear bumper to concrete floor was 10". With the 24" tires the distance is now 12" from floor to bottom of bumper. From the bottom "rear" of the mower deck to floor it was 5-1/4" with the new tires it is now 6". A gain of 3/4". The front mower deck to floor only made a 1/2" more in height.

To reset my mower deck like it was with the 22 x 11-10 tires, I will make some adjustments.

Since I didn't see a model on the Kendas (don't know what a turf master is) and you don't say what the other tires are I cant tell ya for sure.
Tire sizes in L&G tires are not exact numbers. Different ones are different heights/widths etc. For example Kenda makes the Super turf in the same nominal size 24X12.00-12 that they are actually four different heights (23.4, 23.5, 23.8 and 24.3) whereas Carlisle Turf Masters of 24x12.00-12 are listed as 23.3 and their 23x10.50-12 are listed at 22.8 mounted.

Inflation pressure also makes a huge difference.

    Thanks for the great info.

The original tires that came on the Z710A are Carlisle Turf Master brand 4 ply. The ones on the JD 345 are also Carlisle Turf Master 4 ply.
The Kenda 24 x 12-12 have Turf Master logo's and 4 ply. I would assume the type...Turf Master determines the thread design

From my many hours of internet searches.... I find where John Deere must not have too selective on the size they install on these Ztraks mowers... Some have 22" inch, others have 23" and 24" tires. And it doesn't have anything to do with deck size or horse power engines.
