    1550 Front mount mower

I’m comparing a JD 1550 to a Kubota F2690. 24 vs 26 hp.Both below the tier 4 requirements. Does anyone have any experience with the 24 hp John Deere 1550 or similar machine? I would like to stay Green, but I wonder how the 24 hp JD powers the 60” or 72” side discharge decks. Any input greatly appreciated.
    Thanks

I dont know anything about the Kubota but I worked on the 15xx series quite a bit. It will have no problem running the 72 deck. Even with a MCS system it will handle the load. If you dont have a good grease gun, get one.. Lots of fittings to grease!

Thanks for the reply. What horse power are the 15xx series you are referring to.

I think the 1550 you referred to is 24 right? A couple hp here and there dont make much a difference. The newer tier4 engines have a DPF but do not require DEF but do require a regen cycle from time to time.
I dont think you will see night and differences between the orange vs the green. The real difference will be with the dealers and parts availability.
How many acres are you cutting?

I am cutting about 3 acres with lots of trees to trim around. I think the Kubota has to occasionally burn off some accumulation in the exhaust. The JD does not? It is above my mechanical knowledge. DPF and DEF are new to me. Life used to simple.
