Deere 997 - running double mower blades?

    Hello

I have a 997 with the 60 inch rear discharge. In order to reduce windrows I was considering running doubles. Has anyone tried this? If so what blades are you using? What king of results did you get?

    Thanks
    Bob

    I’m assuming double mower blades?

Have you tried something like Gator blades ? They kinda mulch, but you lose a little lift. They work really good for me and my conditions.

You would be hard pressed to reduce wind rows with a RD deck. Unless you cut off less than 3 inches of dry grass. Otherwise it will pile it up. Look at it.. It has no choice. Gator blades. . Don't cut much off and slow yur speed.

I have a set of g6's now. They do a good job but was thinking of maybe trying a set of high lifts with it. I think that the clippings are just the result of the rear discharge. Was thinping that doubles might leave finer clippings?

Is a mulch kit available for this mower?

No, I don't think so- the back of the deck is pretty much open.

Only concern I would have with doubles, unless less they are built specific for doubling is they would be thicker than the centering bushing on your spindles.
