Does anyone have a 029 or ms290 they could confirm if this port to the left of the fuel cap is for venting? no luck finding a diagram but fuel is leaking out of this port like crazy. Saw runs great otherwise.
029 parts diagrams say that is the tank vent, and there should be a short piece of fuel line ending in a vent "insert", which I think is just a restrictor (as in small hole in a fitting) to stop fuel from coming out and lets air in.

No self venting caps on any stihl saw. Short hose with insert on the 029, 290. Part numbers are 11203588105 for insert and 11273587703 for hose. There are 2 vent inserts....50 cents for inserts and 11.10 for hose.

Not sure where in the US that you're located in as your profile is non specific. The oldest Stihl dealer in the US is in Southern Ohio. Ron Rapp owns Rapps' Repair Shop, the business that his late father founded and operated. Ron has forgotten more about small engines than many mechanics will ever know .
If you Googled the business, phone and speak to Ron, he could sort you out. He carries loads of parts, even for very old Stihl saws.

I decided to start a thread on DeWalt Power Tools cause it's hard to find information sifting through a bazillion threads/posts.
Maybe we need/could use other "XXXX Power Tool Review Threads" also. :dunno: :thumbup1gif:
Ordered this on Thursday, should have it Monday...

We have a review thread for DeWalt and Milwakee - so why not Harbor Freight? It seems their quality has come up quite a bit over the past few years on many items. Also there are a lot of videos around comparing Harbor Freight Tools to competitors of which some are very good.
I'll start off with...
I just bought a used John Deere 827E snowblower. The units looks like new, MINT, very low usage. The snow cutting blades look like new, no rust and very little scrap in the yellow paint. Tires are barely worn as well.
I have been searching all over the internet for any data on these units, and...
I bought a electrical cabinet from government surplus and made it as my tool cabinet. It costed me $30 plus my time and fuel to pick it up.
Then I put casters to move it around in the garage. The casters costed me almost the same as the cabinet.
Each shelf has electrical outlets so I...
Don't know if anyone ever buys from Acme Tools (used to be tool crib of the north). but I have bought a LOT of Milwaukee tools from them. They currently have a deal going on where if you buy a select M18 bare tool, they throw in a 3.0 Ah batter with multi charger for free. $119 value and free...
