I wanted to do this but not in stock when needed. I bought one off Amazon, drilled new holes in the bottom plate, shorter bolts and off to the races.
You’re correct for pulling trailers, but hooking them to the front of your tractor is a game changer for backing any trailer, wagon, etc. We use ours all the time to back our trailers away, farm implements like head haulers away, and we even used it to back the gooseneck trailer away.
If I didn’t already have a hitch on a ball it would be a thought. The splitter isn’t heavy to set on the ball.If you look at my photos above, I'm using an inexpensive Harbor Freight adjustable drawbar. It can accommodate a wide variety of tongue heights.
