1025r - loss of driving power

1467 Views 9 Replies 6 Participants Last post by  Ziggi
After plowing virgin soil for few days I got a loss of driving power and speed - the loader seems to work fine though. I changed all filters and the transmission fluid. There was a little improvement but not as it used to be. Both pedals feel sluggish. The tractor has 1100 hrs on it. The motor runs well. I drained and refilled it with a new fuel just in case. Next time I will be at my cottage I'm going to check the hydraulic pressure and start from there. Any advise is welcome.

Did you clean the screen filter?

I have noticed on my 1,200 hour 1025R that it seems to take more effort to fully depress the forward pedal. This makes it feel sluggish to me. Just did my 1,200 hour service and all filters (air, hydraulic, oil, both fuels) are new and hydraulic screen and oil cooler and radiator fins are clean. I’ll be checking the pedal linkage when I get round-tuit. I look forward to reading responses to the OP, as I have a similar-sounding problem and hours. Like the OP, the FEL seems to work fine, and I notice the loss of pull is when I am working my riding arena with the drag’s scarifiers lowered.

Yes I did and I was surprised how much It need to be done
Ideally, you would test hydrostat charge pressure to make sure its getting enough make-up oil into the system. Any sort of restriction upstream would show up (oil cooler, filter, steering) during that test and if that relief fails, then almost all the oil will be going back to sump. The other possibility is one or both directional reliefs failing, but that is unlikely as you have sluggish movement in both directions and there is no way to test them.

Worst case scenario is the hydro pump, motor, or swash palte has excessive leakage and will need to be replaced.

Simple things first:
1. Change the under frame fuel filter.
2. Change the water separation canister fuel filter.

Those were done the first.

Sluggish pedals, I'd check the pedal linkage first. There's a silver tube that resembles a shock absorber under the left side floorboard attached to the
pedal linkage. If it is worn out or damaged that would account for the sluggish pedals and subsequent loss of power. Hope that helps.

I checked the linkage before and everything seemed to be visually fine. But when I started to take it apart piece by piece I found what caused the problem! The lever (LVU35130) was broken but the bolt and the washer were still holding it together and letting it to turn the shaft half way in both directions.
