To get this gap set right you first need to unlock all anti-scalp wheels, turn the mower height adjustment knob to the "install" position, and then lower the deck to the ground. Then remove the hair pin clips and pins (D) and adjust both links (E) up equally. Now you need to raise the mower fully and check for the gap (A) between the height cam (C) and the rock shaft arm (B). Repeat this process until you get close to 1/8".
Ok?

So what do the three bolts on the yellow zinc plated link between the 3PH rockshaft and the mid rockshaft do?

You should be able to remove, and throw away link E and have no effect on gap A...

Ahh, the independent lift kit. Deere's miracle of engineering to allow us 3PH control while controlling the MMM. I've never seen one, so I'm not familiar with your set up. Good write up, as for me my MMM will lay dormant for a while. No grass here to cut, and I REALLY want to know what it's like to mow with a 1026R.

54D AutoConnect latch update

Ive been mowing a little this year, and all seemed to be well. Until lately on some challenging areas of lawn the deck kept disconnecting! It was a knoll type area where the front left corner of the deck wanted to rise more than the tractor would allow. I noticed my latch moved really easy, so I ordered a couple of springs for the latch to stiffen it up. No good, three springs mounted were not enough to do the trick. I did notice that my latch wasn't sitting low enough to line up the 1/4" holes between the deck and latch. So I ordered a new latch. I put the latch on, and it fits better, the latches seem to come up higher in the attachment slot. I payed for both springs and the latch, about $21. I know some of you guys will blast me for not making a huge deal out it. Forcing the dealer to service my tractor at my house and give me free stuff. But, I'm reserving that in case something major happens over the next couple of years.

The new spring is two piece, with a bee hive design.

The new latch has a different bend inside the arms, and is welded to the outer plates a little lower.

Your lift links from the mid rock shaft to MMM lift arms/PTO carrier are adjusted too short. The MMM lift arms are topping out on the frame and something has to give somewhere. Disconnect them, get your mid rockshaft where you need it via the three bolts on the lift strap, then level your MMM lift arms with the link adjustment.
