Hi folks I have a 1968 112 square fender. the axle seal on right side is leaky. I have read that the hub is hard to pull off. Mine rocked a bit and pulled off by hand mostly. there is some play in the end of axle bearing as well. I assume the hub wears not the axle but thought I would ask experts. got the seal oring and bearing on way but Should I order a hub? Also the cant seem to get axle tube to come off. it rotates and wiggles but wont budge off. any tips? Is there any other recommended maint. I should do with the tranny out? shift forks etc? thanks in advance. T

Maybe someone will chime in. I just got new front seals for my 2950. Far as I can tell my axles pull on out. I have hub seals that’s are almost 8 inch. Don’t believe I’ll need those just the inner seals the shaft rides on.

Not every hub is stuck, the ones that are become epic. They can wobble to much and eventually strip out. The axle doesn’t wear out in that situation.

The axle does get worn if the bearing goes bad. It should be smooth and not have a 1/2” groove where the bearing is.

As much as I don’t want to say this, drop the transaxle. I’d probably split it and replace the detent balls and springs to be done with the typical failures.

Get help for reinstatement of the transaxle. It can be done by one, but that’s a horrible way to learn. Note make sure the belt is in place when you set it.

Edit: the left axle is the one you need to remove to split it. If that hub is stuck, it might not be worth it to you.
