The recall is because information about using ballast wasn't in the manual?!

I guess they have to call it a “recall” being a safety issue but all it is in fact is an owner’s manual update. The fact that ballast must be used when using the loader is missing from the manual.
I'll have to look in my manual, don't recall seeing it though, seems it would be different than the 1025 where it would state amount of ballast w/loaded tires since I have twice as much weight in my loaded tires than my 1 series did.

Still need ballast with loaded tires - even with my 2520. Loaded tires aren’t actually ballast......

But with that said and while not trying to start a ballast war - with my loaded tires which I guess are around 250# a piece for light loader work it is fine. But I add ballast when doing any heavy work. Partially because of stability and partially for the front axle. Don’t want to end up like Big Jim did with his.
I know that Stan, I always ballast up when doing FEL work, my point was only that there is no differential between the two tractors, stating like 581lbs with loaded tires with a concrete filled ballast box. That # is for the 1 series, I have 320 lbs of liquid ballast in my rear tires compared to the 142 lbs I had in my 1 series. Rest assured I still use my 600 and something pound ballast box for almost ALL FEL work.

What are you using in your tires?

I guess that's why some dealers were saying these new tractor/loader combinations no longer required ballast. After all, it wasn't in the manual. :)

Yeah it should just be a Manual recall not for the whole Piece of equipment. Deere is just sending Out a Manual Page Update to any who Purchased the 120R though the dealer and it Only Loaders sold May 2017 thru Sept 2017 and it Looks Like it the 120R Loader In general from the Deere PDF which is not specifying weather it a 120R on a 1 series or a 2025R . Deere is actually contacting the customer directly as well :bigthumb:

Just as an "FYI" for all:

I merged the two separate threads on this topic and relocated it to the "Implements" forum since the topic applies to an implement that is used on two different series machines. This is just some very minor housekeeping so we can keep all the info on this recall in one place and users will be able to find it.

:good2:

Carry on!

Well, I got my Official Recall Letter on the 120R recall yesterday in the mail.....

I am to "Stop using the loader immediately and contact the Dealer for a free correction of the operators manual"..................

Of course, they could just send the page out to those impacted by this "recall"..........

The manual fails to state that "The minimum rear ballast is fluid filled tires, PLUS 54KG (119 lb) wheel weights, PLUS 374KG (825 lb) rear hitch ballast'"

Note, the weight is expressed in KG primarily and the pounds were in brackets just as I wrote it........I will have to look to see if the rest of the manual is written with Metric weights as the primary expressed weight and pounds as secondary.......

and of course, I don't even OWN the 2025R about which this recall is based.........But I still got the letter. It says my FEL is in the "Recall Group" based upon VIN numbers. Also, just in case one would have trouble identifying their 120R loader, "The recalled loaders are mostly green with Yellow accents".....

OH, THAT Front End loader......The Green one with Yellow Accents...Now I got it..............:lol::lolol:

Wait a minute.....Maybe this means that the dealer actually owes me a 2025R tractor.......After all, I got the letter saying my loader VIN number is attached to a 2025r.

I will contact Ryan and mention it to him. I want to follow up with him anyways as he has doctors appointments with specialists to see if they can figure out why he had an "A Fib" incident on Saturday which required him to be taken the the ER and they ended up shocking his heart to get it back in rhythm. Hopefully, it's a one time incident and nothing more. :good2:

Their lawyers also wanted them to say it's the thing on the front of the tractor that goes up and down :mocking:

Maybe the dealership is missing a 2025r and now you and Ryan are the chief suspects.

Seriously, I hope all is well with Ryan :good2:
