I have a JD 175 Hydro that started having difficulty moving in reverse and now I have nothing. No forward or reverse. Is this an expensive repair? Thanks

The 175 hydro transmission uses SAE 30W oil. The owner's manual states how to check the level and top off if needed, but cautions against changing the oil. I suspect that this is because it might be hard to prime all the internal parts/pumps without factory procedures, etc. The PDF is too large to attach here, but if you PM me with your e-mail address I will try to send it that way.

The TM1351 Service manual is small enough to attach here, and the hydro transmission is covered in section 250. The hydro level fill/check is shown on page 250-10-7 and a pretty good trouble shooting guide is begins on page 250-10-1. This service manual does show how to change the oil, and includes the way to bleed the system as is necessary.

Hope this helps!
