I just got this project, and really want to get the manifold off to sandblast. It already had a missing nut of the 4 total. I heated the remaining sprayed for weeks and finally broke the other 3 off. So now it sits on the head with all 4 studs still sticking up flush with top of manifold.

Question- will the manifold just lift up off of the 4 studs (once I get the rust loose).
I am carefully tapping between head and manifold and spraying, and letting it sit for a while, I don't want to break it.

Any thoughts?
Thanks

Heat, PB blaster, and a brass hammer are my go-to tools for removing manifolds. Gentle heat breaks down rust and helps the PB wick in between the manifold, the gasket (if there is one), and the block. Tapping on the manifold with a brass hammer while the PB is soaking in will help things along.

Once you get it loose it should slide right up the studs.
