I have a broken bolt that I need to try to remove and need to take off the hood. How do I get the steering shaft out? Does it come out of the front or back towards the drivers seat?

I can't find a parts blowout on the steering box, so this is from (an often feeble) memory. Remove the steering wheel. Remove the front cover of the steering box at the front of the tractor. Remove the nut, washer and bearing. With that done, the shaft should unscrew out the front of the gearbox. I'm about 80% sure of that procedure. I'll try to confirm in the next few days.

Kevin is correct. The stearing shaft goes out the front after removing the stearing wheel and key. Be carfull with the bearings in the gear box and it will be a greasy mess.
