You probably already know this, but mud dobbers love to pack the intake stack full of their mud. We had removed the entire air filter assembly and pressure washed it until the river of mud stopped coming out. The sheet metal stack was so rusted and full of holes that we cut it off to put on a new replacement. The thing was still clogged with that mud. This was all done before the engine was ready to run, so I don't know if it would have caused icing of the manifold. It probably would not have been able to start.
This was a '50 B that had sat for 20 years in a barn. We put an old cotton sock over the pipe when it sits in the garage for months at a time.
