I just got a JD 110 that nothing happens when I turn the ignition switch. The guy I bought it from tried to fix it himself by changing out the ignition switch. He said he wasn't sure if the ignition switch was the correct one. I've checked its continuity, which is good. The first thing I noticed is that there are only 4 wires connected to the ignition switch which has 5 prongs (Ignition, Battery, Starter Solenoid, Accessories, and Regulator). I've tested that there is power to the solenoid by jumping it. Are there supposed to only be 4 wires to the ignition switch? Any ideas what else my be cause no power? Appreciate any help!

I would go to deere and get the known correct switch.

Then if you still have no power at the stitch check for self resetting breakers hiding under the battery tray.

I was hoping to not do that since I'm cheap lol. But since you suggest it and it's only $15 I'll do that. The only switch I couldn't get any voltage or continuity reading off of what the neutral start switch. I want to replace that too, but for the life of me I can't find the part number. Does anyone happen to know it?

If you have 12v into the neutral switch you should have 12v in and out of the ignition.

The start signal leaves the ignition on the purple wire. It passes through the safety(s) on it way to the solenoid.

There are 2 switches . One for magneto ign , and one for battery ign . It has to be the correct switch . A 74 should be battery ign . Hope this helps . Kevin .

I've got the right switch now and confirmed the solenoid and starter are good by confirming voltage is going to the solenoid from the +battery terminal and by jumping from the +battery terminal to the solenoid. The starter fired up. So I'm guessing it has to be one of the switches. I noticed I didn't put the model and serial number of the tractor and motor in the post.
Kohler Motor: Serial # 4076651 Model K241AS
Tractor: Type T0632 Serial # 268919M

I still have no power. The continuity of the circuit breaker, ammeter, and PTO switch are good. I couldn't get any readings off of the neutral start switch and voltage regulator is completely burnt out. Could the regulator being burnt out cause the no power issue? See pics. Any ideas?

I would unplug the regulator, it could be shorting. You won’t have any charging, but I doubt you do now.

You need to test for power not continuity to speed up this step.

12v into the switch?

12v to the coil when the key is in run?

12v out on the purple wire when in start?

If you have power out on the purple wire you’ll need to follow it and see where it stops on it’s path to the solenoid.

I don’t have a wiring diagram infront of me to give the order and location of the safety switches. There are only 2-3.

Is your pto electric or manual?

I've got 12v to the ignition switch and coil. There's no power to the purple wire. I've also got 12v at the ammeter and solenoid (only on the connection from the battery to the solenoid). My PTO is manual. My best guess at this point is the purple wire or its connections have gone bad. I've attached the wiring diagram I've got. Wiring Diagram.PNG
