It looks like some kind of pivot for linkage but that is a wild guess and my post will bump it back to the top.
Thanks - My guess was a backing plate to reinforce a cast aluminum housing, but I don't see where it could fit.It looks like some kind of pivot for linkage but that is a wild guess and my post will bump it back to the top.
It was the transmission housing gasket. Had to open up the transmission to replace it. It was a big job for DIY but no leaks now.Where was the oil leak?
What did you need to take apart to fix?
Thank you. I believe that you are correct, but I haven't been able to figure our exactly where it belongs. I did that too and I do have that part number 19 at the bottom of the case. I painted the parts when I had it all apart, so the wear marks are no longer obvious. I believe the part does span two bolts, I'm just not sure which and I want to be sure before I tear it back down to install it.Looks like a case reinforcement bracket that would span between two case bolts , as it doesn't appear to pivot or move when installed as there are no wear marks. I looked through the parts illustrations for the power train for a 2320 and didn't see it shown anywhere. Probably the closest I found was bracket number 19 shown in this illustration, which is serial number specific.

That's got to be it!!! Yes I had some longer bolts leftover too. Thank you so much. I know exactly where that is. Weird that there would be two stiffener brackets stacked on top of each other, but that's it. It that drawing from a TSB or should I have been able to find it on the JD site?Right-on Giz. But if the drawing is accurate the bolts, short threaded, would be the give away. So were they used somewhere else or are they leftover too?
🤣 Accurate 🤣 that's funny. But if the drawing is accurate

After sticking my nose in on DRobinson's problem a while back I went back and looked into these two stiffeners (not shown)...the drawing is from the JD site used by the aftermarket w/ or w/o permission maybe. However I believe Giz referenced a different tranny drawing, perhaps the one I spoke of in my prior post.
Does your machine have both stiffeners?I really appreciate the digging that you folks did to find this. Turns out that I actually could see it in my "before" photos but it's not easy to spot.
I just looked at my tractor, a picture would be next to impossible once the whole thing is installed back into the tractor. Can you do me a favor and post up a picture of them/it installed?
