2520...50 hr service question

I am in the process of doing the 50 hr service. I just changed engine oil and filter. The manual says 3 qts...but after running the tractor a minute or two, checking for leaks, the oil level only reaches the bottom of the dipstick. Am I missing something? I looked at the online manual...and it has the same listed quantity of oil
