2520 Steps?

18031 Views 36 Replies 14 Participants Last post by  Manomet
I was perusing the JD parts manual on the 2520 and ran across these steps. Does anyone know anything about these? This is the first I have seen them. I am going to have to check into this further. It has my interest.

No Clue:dunno:

I am thinking it may not be compatible with the MMM though...
That might be nice if you had vertically challenged family members.

Make sure to check if you have to drill holes to install it first...

My wife is only 4' 14" short :mocking:.

Notice how the steps are definetly different? But, only one has a part number. And I don't think that number is valid, JD parts doesn't seem to recognize it. Kenny you are correct the MMM would need to be considered. It does have me thinking of my own step mod though.

It may be considered a "whole good" and not available through parts...Try calling a salesman to check availability.

I looked at adding one to my 4110, but I saw no good place to mount one...

I was kinda wondering if you had considered that. Did you look at MMM clearance?

Not yet...The MMM was not mounted when I looked.
I haven't seen the steps you posted, but here is a step (I think adapted from another JD model) on a 2000 series tractor. Not mine, I got it off another site...
Well, sorry, it looked like it took the picture, but didn't and I couldn't get it resized small enough.

Runner,
Can you post a link?
I'm sorry, I just saved the picture and the link is long gone. I'll try one more time on the home computer (it's a little easier to crop pictures on..). Looks like it took this time. This was on a 2320, by the way.

Hmmmm, do you know what that step is from? It looks almost like the one on my 3520, but the standard LH step has some taper to it, making it a PITA to mount on anything else..

Cant comfirm for sure, but it appears that step might be from the 3x20 open station machines:

The guy did a pretty slick job of mounting them. If you look close, you can see that they are attached with pins so are easily removable when needed.

That is a pretty slick idea, then you would not need to worry about the MMM clearance. You really don't need the step with the MMM anyway. I am going to have to give this one some more thought.
Randy,

I'm sure you would be able to make your own step if you needed to!:thumbup1gif:

I just bought a grate... It's 2'x20', and I plan to cut it down the middle... I've thought about adding a step on the other side, Because I do get on the tractor on that side sometimes... I've thought about making a step out of a piece of the grate, and use a grinder to cut out some notches where you would step on it!

When I do, I'll post some pictures... I looked it over, and it ''may'' be hard to mount one on that side on my 4300 because of the hydraulic hard-lines!
.
Sounds like a good plan Bill. I did a preliminary evaluation and right now think I can mount to the platform frame.

Just wondering if you found anything out on the steps that are on the jd parts page, I asked my dealer to look into it but he hasn't got back to me yet, or did you decide to make one yourself. I'm looking to put one on my tractor, took the one off of my 2305 that I made before I sold the tractor. It's just like the one that runner posted a pic of. It was real easy to mount to the 2305,however there is not much to mount to on the 2520. I have a curtis cab on and I'm thinking of attaching to that and to the platform frame. Before I do anything I really would like to see if in fact deere does make one for this tractor and how it mounts.

Castiman, I have not done any further research into this. The only thing I did was look at my copy of the parts list and it lists the step as european availability. It will be interesting to hear what your dealer has to say. I really think that something can be mounted right off the platform frame. And yeah, I am planning on making my own step. Please keep me up to date on this. Thanks.
Step update?

Anything going on this? I just received my 2520 today and a step would sure come in handy. :munch:

We are waiting for you to step up...... to...... the........ Sorry, couldn't resist.

Actually, I have done absolutely nothing to this point. It is really a low priority at the moment for me. How about you, got any new ideas, or going to build on what has already been posted? What you thinkin'?
