Hey all. Was wondering if anybody had ever changed controls on backhoe. Our excavators at work have the boom and bucket on the right joystick whereas the backhoe has the stick and bucket on the right. I'm sure I'll get used to it in time but I'm also thinking it's a matter of switching a couple hoses?? Tia

Paging 330_D and KBAR!

Sounds like a good idea for a new kit to convert from SAE to ISO controls. From what I read, equipment with electronic controls do this electronically now.

The problem is the boom and stick have different spools. The boom has that goofy float position that does nothing on my BH ( dealer has no clue it existed) somebody on here swapped the spools and hoses. I learned on the iso pattern also, takes a bit to adjust when going between machines.

Sounds like you got the JD controls and not Cat controls which is what most of the new excavator controls have adopted. On the minis there’s a valve under the seat or floor you can flip to change styles. I know nothing of these backhoe attatchments on these tractors as I don’t have one so I can’t help.

There is a thread here from someone that did exactly what you said, changed hoses.
Although I think if you really want to do it right, one of the spools is slightly different (I forget why), and in addition to the hose change that spool should get swapped too.

Keep searching here for the thread, they went into great detail if I recall.

Try terms like SAE to deere controls, CAT controls ...
