I disconnected my 260B last fall outside following all "proper procedures". As expected the hydraulics bled down so the 260 was sitting on the ground. I was able to get the hydraulics connected however while the dipper and bucket controls worked as expected, the outrigger controls were completely frozen. I got a scissor jack under the dipper arm and jacked it up off the ground to relieve any pressure on the stabilizers ( they are completely off the ground) Still the outrigger controls are locked. I disconnected and reconnected the hydraulics and still no luck. I am baffled. Any suggestions? This BH is only 2 years old and has maybe an hour on it total.

Thanks

Cheers

Pull the rubber boots up from the base of joysticks.

Lube with Kroil or whatever you have.

Wait

Gently start to work them in whatever direction they are supposed to travel.

Store indoors next time....perhaps.

Sometimes the hydraulic quick couplers snap together but don't fully engage on the inside. Might have to do some cleaning, reconnecting, or replacement on those.

Thanks for the idea but my problem is with the stabilizer controls not the joysticks. The joysticks work fine. The stabilizer controls are frozen

Thanks for the idea. It seems to me that hydraulics either work or they don't. In my case they connectors go together just fine and the joysticks operate just fine for the dipper and bucket. I just can't get the stabilizers to move because the levers are stuck.

Same would apply
My hydro crane when not used for a while......the controls stick.

Generally once nudged in the right direction with lube they free up quick.

I'm not familiar with your machine but if the rest is working it sounds like you got a bit of moisture in control lever and here we are..

I've had wood splitter controls do the same.

I used a small block of wood and small hammer to free up that one.
Don't hit on end of control lever but rather as close to base or piston the base of lever is connected too ...if that makes sense.

Tex, PLEASE note Duke said small hammer! You're trying to "persuade" the spool, not beat the he!! out of it! Bob

Found this old thread.
Your outrigger controls are like my crane controls.
Looks like there is a panel you can pull easily to gain access to the problem area.

Update 9/2. I finally got a chance to pull the cover off the hydraulics on the 260B backhoe. I tapped the base of the cylinders of both the outrigger control levers and worked them free. After that everything worked as advertised. Never thought a system with only 1-2 hours on it would act like that but oh well. Learned a lot more about my machine as a result. Thanks for the help.

Hydro oil is strange...it is oil but has odd lubing properties.

My crane controls will stick in a couple weeks...everytime I walk by it now I wiggle all the sticks.

Make it a habbit or store it inside.

Glad you got it fixed.
