My new 2720 was delivered today at noon. They took me by surprise when they pulled in the driveway, I had not yet brought the 2320 trade in up from the barn. They were to call me before hand, but the driver forgot. I got a JD 2720, 200CX loader, 62D deck & a 655 tiller. I had an 61" bucket on the 2320. The dealer did not like having that size bucket on the 200CX loader, so I kept my old bucket.

As I stated in another thread, I ran into problems installing the front hitch that I had been using on the 2320 I traded in. The correct parts are on order & should be in next week, so I hope it does not snow before they get here.

I had an Original cab on the 2320. The cab was purchased for & first used on a JD 2210. 5 years ago when I traded the 2210 for a 2320, Original did not yet make a cab for it. I adapted the 2210 cab to fit the 2320. I had intended to try to adapt it to fit the 2720, but after doing some research, I found that the Original Cab that is made for the 2720 has a lot more visibility than the cab I have now. Yesterday I ordered a new cab that was designed for the 2720. The cab should be in next week also.

I drove the 2720 about 30ft from were they parked it, to my shop. So I cannot comment much about it yet. I do like the sound of the engine. It has a big tractor sound. I also like the independent lift on the mower already.

The 2320 I traded in.

The new 2720.

Since I could not complete the front hitch install, I decided to make mobile carts for the tiller & mower deck.

Congratulations Mr R! Your dealer must be happy to have you around.

Did the ROPS manual canister come mounted as in the photo? It's supposed to be on the upper section of the ROPS. I can't imagine it being where it is will be ideal.

I hope you will circle back and give us your comparison between the 2320 and your new 2720.

Yes the canister came mounted that way.
I found out for sure that it was in the wrong place when I went to fold the ROPS down to pull the tractor in my shop. The ROPS hit the mounting bracket. When I did the pre-delivery walk around, the salesman pointed out that the light hit the canister & could not be aimed right. I thought then that something was not right. I took the canister off, I am not sure I will put it back on. I keep all of my manuals in a file cabinet in my office, so I really do not need it.

I will report back on the differences between the 2320 & 2720.

Crikey...the old one hardly looks as it was ever used. Someone is going to get a clean used machine. Enjoy the new one.

ChrisR, Very nice and good luck with your new tractor. I have to tell ya, it's post like this that make me want a 2720. I don't need it but that that does not change anything.
Congratulation. :thumbup1gif:

Same here, I did not really need it, but I will enjoy it.

I was reading the manual this morning & found the build sheets. The 2720 was built on January 11, 2012. I have never owned a tractor this new.

The 2320 had 207 hours on it & was in great condition.

I did find something that I do not like about the new 62D deck.
I have been used to, in the fall after servicing the deck in the shop, picking it up with the I Match & moving it to the tool shed for the winter.
The new deck is not made to be able to do that. Now I will have to use the loader & forks.

Chris, Sorry it won't work. I (we) don't feel sorry for you one bit. On the other hand I could swap you our 2320, just to get you out of the seemingly hardship you are in.
BTW, Good one, it's good to know.

Thanks for the offer, but I think I will mange to handle the change, as difficult as it might be.

Thank you Pete.

I never had a need for a cart until this year. My wife took over the area I used to store the deck in. In that space I could just push the deck straight in against a wall & flip it up.
Now to store it, I would have to either move several items or stand the deck up on edge & work it back into the space. After doing that twice in the last 2 months, I decided it was time for a new plan.

Is your floor sealed or something? Looks pretty neat. Assuming there is a basement under your shop.

Real nice piece of equipment! I have a 2520, and I am thinking about buying an Original Cab for it. What do you think about the quality of that make of cab? Let use know!
I have been using one for the past 7 winters. It was first on a JD 2210, 2 years later I adapted it to fit a 2320. The only problem I ever had with it was that it had a lot of blind spots. Several years ago I tore the electric meter off of my garage partly because of the blind spots. That is the excuse I used anyway.

They have taken care of of the blind spots on the cab for the 2520/2720. I had first intended to adapt the old cab to work on 2720, but after seeing the improvements they made in it. The only hesitation in ordering it was spending the money.

Just for information, I spoke with a person at Original cab Thursday to check to see if the glass windshield from my old cab would work in the cab for the 2720. I was told that it would fit. That was good news. The bad news they had was that the 2520/2720 cab was out of stock until the end of February. I was going to order the cab through my JD dealer, but I did not want to wait, because winter would be almost over by the time it came in. I did an internet search & found that there is a dealer on the famous auction site that had several in stock & at a lower cost than going through my dealer. They shipped quick also. I ordered it late Thursday, tracking shows it will be delivered Monday.

My old 2210 cab mounted on the 2320.

A picture from Original sent me of the 2520/2720 cab.

The floor is built over a crawlspace, but it is 5 feet deep.
Ah, a mother-in-law's apartment.

I'm surprised the roof on the cab is so much lower than the top of the ROPS. Is it a head knocker?
