What are my other options adding cat 1 3 point hitch to my 2016 x738? I think JD sells one for over $600. Are there cheaper aftermarket options that would work for my x738?
Primary use would be a box blade and adding more than 6 suitcase weights that I currently use with the click-n-go bracket.

It makes trailer moving (and keeping the trailer level while moving) a breeze!

I think there is one company that makes a 3PH to fit, but I doubt it's appreciably cheaper. Best to just pay for it. It's worth every penny anyway. I have an omni-hitch attachment that holds 8 weights, has a trailer hitch receiver, and accepts a big metal basket, plus two or more shackles. Then I also use a 3PH 40 gallon sprayer, a 48" aerator, a thatcher, a leaf vacuum, and trailer tow. I love having the hitch.

The ruegg hitch and the factory hitch cost almost the same when you have to buy all the parts that aren't in the ruegg kit.

Either one is a solid 3ph. Other than those two there are no other options for an x7 3ph.

I installed the Ruegg 3-point CAT hitch on my both of my 455s, when I had them. It was the same hitch for the X-series. The Ruegg kit came with everything required. I happen to have the installation instructions for the JD hitch, for an X-series (attached). Glancing at the exploded view, the Ruegg hitch has all the parts pictured to the best of my recollection.

Perhaps the others are referring to the '"Retrofit Kit" discussed in the attached installation instructions. I doubt if that if that is included with the JD hitch, either.

Anyway, I hope the attached install instructions provide you with a better idea of what is required and what is involved with the installation.

I just started checking into a 3pt for my X758 again since I'd like to add more weight when plowing with my new blade. Best price is $663. The (6) 42lb suitcase weights aren't enough. I'd love to add the 3pt, grab a Heavy hitch cat 1 receiver drawbar. Depending on the model you grab you can either hang, (8) 42lb weights, (8) 42 or 70lb weights, or the larger one which is (16) 42 or 70lb weights. Price varies from $250-$240. The only reason I'd consider the largest of the 3 is because I could then use it on a larger 2 family or 3 family series tractor when I get one in a few years.

Smallest model can hold (8) 42s

Medium model can hold (8) 42s or 70s

I would be careful not to put too much weight on the hitch. I don't remember the exact number, but I think it's like 600 lbs including the hitch. And you may have to add weight to the front to keep the it planted on the ground

Also, most things that a fit on a CAT1 hitch will fit any CAT1 hitch, regardless of the tractor.

I prefer the omni-hitch Transformer over the Heavy because it has an additional vertical receiver tube and super nice basket. Not cheap though.

I hope you plan to use the 3 point hitch for other attachments besides of adding 2 more 42lb suitcase weights. That would be expensive for 84 more lbs of weight. I'm trying to justify the cost of the 3 point by also getting a box blade for the driveway. This winter with record admount of snow in my area I got stuck several times trying to plow snow. I needed more weight in the back. I guess I could just strapped 2 40lb bags of salt on top of my weights with the click-n-go bracket to see if that helps.

Rugge I thought (at one time)sold the retrofit kit with his 3p kits. Price last I recalled was a tiny bit cheaper than Deere kit. Prices have gone up each year I think I paid high 3's back for my x485. Either way there high today.

I put the 3pt on my x738 last year. I bit the bullet and bought the Deere hitch just to be certain it fit and that I had all the parts. Took my time and it went well. Extremely tight working under the tractor but all went well. Not fun but doable. Good luck.
