My 64” snow blower stopped rotating in about 2 seconds, 5’ mower stops in about 2-3seconds. I don’t now how much wear on clutch, but I just don’t like it working that hard. Maybe I am over thinking it, lol

Maybe I am over thinking it, lolI like the idea of an overrun clutch. It definitely saves wear on the pto brake. You have discovered that the ones at tractor supply don’t work on modern pto’s
They are for the old ones where you drove a pin through.
I just got one for my 4720 last week after hunting around for a quick release one. I actually started a thread last year about getting one (I better update the thread).
This is the one I got:
It is good for 100hp, but they have smaller ones that are significantly cheaper.![]()

I used it for the first time last Sunday and it worked great! The pto on the tractor stops right away, and the mower keeps turning for about 5 minutes.
Used to take about a minute to stop, and I know the pto brake was taking all that abuse to stop it.
When you get the ORC on there you will be surprised by how much momentum is in something big and heavy like a rotary cutter. My 64” snow blower stopped rotating in about 2 seconds, 5’ mower stops in about 2-3seconds. You’re not overthinking it. You will certainly save some wear on the pto brake. I don’t know exactly how your machine is designed, but my 4720 has a combination clutch/brake assembly. It is wet, so it runs in oil. When the clutch engages, the brake disengages. Conversely, when the clutch disengages, the brake engages and attempts to stop the pto shaft( and whatever is attached to it). When the brake wears out, so does the clutch. Often they contaminate the hydraulic oil too as they fail. They are not fun or cheap to replace. My 64” snow blower stopped rotating in about 2 seconds, 5’ mower stops in about 2-3seconds. Yes you can. Most pto shafts are long enough to deal with 4 inch quick hitch , but the ORC will offset the difference. So I'm reading these posts to learn the best operations techniques and keep my new 3025 running without major maintenance due to operator error for as long as possible.
I've got a Titan quick hitch coming and thought that since it adds about 4" to the offset of the attachment a PTO shaft extension would also be required.
My Question is: could I use the ORC instead of the extension.
Thanks for the informationYes you can. Most pto shafts are long enough to deal with 4 inch quick hitch , but the ORC will offset the difference.
