Can someone explain to me how it works and also is the parking brake a shoe and what would happen if left on for extended period of use.. haven’t done it (yet) but have left it on for a few feet before noticing

There are wet discs and friction plates inside each rear axle. Applying the brake or the parking brake applies pressure to the brake discs.

If left on while moving for an extended period of time would obviously put excessive wear on the brake discs. Accidentally moving a short distance with the brakes applied won't have any lasting effect. Good thing too because I think we have ALL done it!

Yes I have done it and I’m sure I will do it again.. I’m glad to learn they are wet discs and not dry although that sure does look like a costly repair if they ever go bad.. although I do have the power reverse transmission.. does that make a difference?

I guess that is the power reverse breakdown you pictured… is it the same for the hydro?

I looked up the power reverse and it looks identical
