I ordered the LED bulbs for the Silverado day time running lights,, one was burned out,,
the one I selected had lots of positive reviews,,

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01A4Z3FOS/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

To install,, you pull the old bulb out,, push in the new bulb,,,

WELL !!,,, The new bulb would not go in the socket,,,:flag_of_truce:

after 20 minutes of trying, and measuring,,
I find the LED bulb is 0.007" too wide,,, :dunno:

I had to file down the width of the new LED DRL bulb with a hand file,,
then the bulb went right in,,,

I am amazed there are that many good reviews,, someone besides me must have had that problem before,,
there are millions of Silverados, Tahoes, Suburbans, and GMC's that all have burned out DRL bulbs,,

Am I crazy?
OR, is this typical of what you should have to do to work on a car these days??

LOL....... soon as I saw this thread I knew exactly what your problem was.
As a proud owner of a 2005 and 2016 Colorado, I ran into that exact problem on my 1st Gen Collie.
The bulbs look like a 3157 but in fact are not......as you now know.
If you look at this picture, you will see the difference.

The 3157 has a center tab while the Chevy bulbs have a left-side tab. Just one more reason they make you go back and buy stuff directly from them.

As someone who owns and is a fan of both Ford and GM may I say that's really stupid on GM's part. I mean really? I just had a blinker go out on my 03 Lightning. Went to Advanced, bought some clear Sylvania 3157, and within a couple minute had my blinker back working. Came home and ordered some of the amber 3157 for the fronts because the amber coating is flacking off the factory bulbs.

I've changed bulbs in my 93 S10 and don't remember needing any special bulb. Also don't think my 02 Camaro SS needs a special bulb but I can't remember.

Yea....Im not sure when GM started playing those games but, in 05 they threw me that curveball on my Colorado. Thankfully by 2016 Colorado is back to using standard bulbs........ but then they had to use a stupid new design for the wiper blades. No J-hook. :banghead:
