I come into a restored 38" mower deck from a 318, is there any way to fit this to my 314? Both mowers took 38" decks, albeit different models, but I'm not sure just how different they were. Off the top the default lift arms are an obvious mismatch since both the arms and the mounting plates on the tractor have pins. The model # of the mower is M00665. I tried talking to my local JD parts store and sadly couldn't find anyone that knew a damn thing about anything really. Any help would we awesome, thanks.

As far as I know, a 38 was offered for a 318 but not a 314.

Of course, with enough modifying you may be able to make it work.

I don't personally know but going off of tractordata and tractorspecs there was a 38" and a 46". I think this is a pic of one, having a tough time figuring out what other models it fit. Maybe 300 and 312.

There’s no direct fit parts.

You’ll need to see the difference in rear draft arm length on another model like a 41, 46 or 48 and modify the arms on the 38 or have custom ones made. It’s flat bar with 2 holes on a 314.

Then look up the difference in belt length on a common 314/318 deck and apply that difference to the 318/38 belt length. You will get reduced belt lift by about 50% vs JD belts unless JD has a .55x 32degree belt to fit. I once saw a listing of JD belts by size, but I couldn’t say where, and unfortunately I didn’t copy it.

Edit: The 38 would be an excellent deck on a 314, better then a 41 or 46, the 48 would only win over a 38 if the grass isn’t thick and heavy due to horsepower.
