My 200 dollar john deere 318 with a honda conversion motor ran great all last year. Have had cub cadets all my life, no comparison. Hydrostatic, power steering, and hydraulic deck lift. Should of swapped years ago. It started smoking the other day and smelled hot. Pulled the side covers off and found the trans oil cooler had sprung a leak on one of the 180 degree bends. When they put the conversion kit in they ran the choke and throttle cable laying over the u tube of the cooler, vibration wore a hole in it. Called in a favor and had my buddy welded the leak shut. Checked the trans level and she's good to go, I love that tractor, puts a smile on my face when mowing.

So you like the 318 with the Honda engine ? I'm trying to decide when its time to do something with mine if I should have it rebuilt or go for an engine swap. Glad to hear it was a simple fix.
