I picked up the below 3 pt material colllection system Friday for $400. Obviously needs a new driveshaft and one bag.
My question is on the driveshaft. It originally came with a solid shaft (probably the reason it broke as the guy said his 3 pt raised and lowered with his mower deck). Any reason I shouldn’t just replace with one of the universal slip shafts at TSC? I’ve contacted the manufacturer and they think they have some in stock but I won’t know until tomorrow. I don’t really like the idea of the solid shaft, so looking at options.

I'd go with a slip pto, they arn't hard to use, easier to put on and assuming cut to the correct length, will help prevent very expensive transmission damage if the shaft is too long, and the 3pt implement is raised or forced up on a hill or ramp and it crushes the transmission housing.

Nice looking find!!! PTO powered MCS's are nice!!

I have one just like that I moved on to the TKV20 mostly because of mounting. The instructions state that you need an independent lift for the deck. It should also have a support bar that mounts to the MCS and bolts to your drawbar/hitch with a bolt and nut. The way the lower arms and top link connect, kind of locks it in place. Unlike the TKV20 you can not raise it up and down the unit stays put. It is a very good bagger not as good as the TKV20 but it is a lot cheaper

Thanks to both of you. I will purchase a slip shaft to get me back in business.
Doug - thanks for he pictures. I was trying to determine in my head how the top and bottom links worked. I may weld another bracket on it for the top link up higher so I can raise and lower (or use my iMatch). At some point in the future I may fab up a bin with dump from the seat like the tkv20.

One additional note: These implements get very heavy when full. Be careful on inclines and side sloping. With my lift and dump on my 1025R I had originally started with 224lbs of front ballast, but on a slope that wasn't enough, and now am running 308lbs which seems to do the trick. Granted my MCS empty is north of 400lbs.
