I’ve contemplated this for quite some time and so at the beginning of spring I ordered an a Deere AY11F (53”) 4 in 1 bucket and Summit Hydraulics diverter kit. I recently received and installed them both and have about 15 hours of seat time running them.

Before everyone starts telling me why THEY wouldn’t own one, I thought I’d first mention a few things that made ME want to own one.
1. I’ve run other equipment with this type of bucket before, so I had a pretty good idea of what it would/would not do.
2. This bucket is a tool, and just like any tool it’s dependent on the person operating it and the task it’s being asked to perform. Kind of like buying an expensive screwdriver then using it as a prybar or wedge using a hammer. Yes, you can use it like that, but don’t be surprised (or upset) when it breaks or doesn’t do as good of a job as a tool designed specifically for a single task.
3. This bucket can do a number of different tasks, each one with the limitations you’d expect from a multi-use tool. I’d love to have each of the specialized attachments that a 4-1 bucket tries to emulate, but simply can’t justify the cost. Instead I understand the limitations of a multi use tool, and do my best to minimize them.
4. I maintain deer hunting property with my tractor so I’m constantly moving rocks, trees, stumps etc. I maintain ditches, food plots and gravel paths and driveways. While I DO have other attachments such as a backhoe, box blade, rock bucket, forks, etc. I now leave the 4-1 bucket on the tractor until I find the need to use something different. Said another way, my standard bucket is going to get very lonely.
5. I love the versatility of digging one minute, then clamping a log, using it as a dozer blade, then opening it wide and rolling it forward to clean out a ditch. All without having to leave the seat
6. Any attachment purchase is a personal choice. Since I didn’t ask you to pay for it, don’t tell me I shouldn’t own it.

I’m very happy with both purchases and am writing this simply to say that we’re very fortunate to have so many attachment choices these days. I’ve always appreciated the many honest reviews I’ve read here, and simply wanted to contribute one of my own.

I have a gen 1 2025r and use it similar to you. I am often out in the woods digging out a rock wishing I had a different implement on either the front or back. I can see this option being very convenient for working trails.

My bucket is 61" so it is actually a little too big in my opinion for tight trails. The trails I make with my tractor end up being pretty wide. Which is good if you have a side by size buy they are over kill for an ATV. You mention the 4-1 you got is 53". That seems like a better size for trail work.

Do you have any plans for a tooth bar? I have a piranha tooth bar on my bucket and it greatly improves the ability to bulldoze brush. If I did it again, I think I would try the heavy hitch.

I have a standard 53” but with a Heavy Hitch tooth bar on it. I’m considering a piranha toothbar for the 4-1 since I’d like to compare it against the HH style. There are many things I like about the HH bar, and a few I don’t. I’m NOT saying I don’t like it or am not happy I bought it, but I’d definitely be curious to compare it by installing a piranha on the 4-1.
I’m going to get some more seat time before I make my decision and order one.

OP,
Never apologize for the choices you make in life. I have wanted a 4 in 1 for a while, but the CFO put the brakes on that. She suggests that with a grapple, bucket, stump bucket, and forks I don't need anything else attached to my FEL. What little does she know. Nice choice, and good luck.

Hi EBhunts
I am glad to see someone else appreciates the versatility of a 4 in 1 bucket, I have 0ne on my 1025R. Size isn't everything, the versatility of being able to swap between, dozing, scraping, digging material, picking up small stumps and logs, etc without changing attachments or even leaving the tractor seat is what I love about my 4 in 1.
I had to remove some posts recently, I dug beside them with my BH and nugged then loose then with the bucket open I lowered it over the post, picked them up out of the hole took them to where I wanted to store then and returned for the next one. No getting off the tractor to chain up or unchain the posts, then using the dozing function of the 4 in 1 I back filled the holes.Fencing contractors with larger tractors use there 4 in 1 buckets to pluck posts out of the ground without digging the posts out.
As you said 4 in 1 don't do anything brilliantly but the do a lot of jobs well and are a lot cheaper than a lot of other implements to do a similar job.
Regards John

Ha that is exactly how I feel about the piranha. It is great and sharp as heck when new but after a summer it dulls a bit and doesn't seem to grab brush quite as well as when new. I am on my second one on my second tractor so I like it enough to get it again. Just though the hh might be better in rocks. Next time I think I'll go hh.

4-in-1 buckets are great, I have one on my wish list. You described their use very well, not the best at anything, but good at a lot of things, and saves swapping attachments and getting off the tractor.

No need to "prequalify" your choices here, I don't see anyone flaming people on this forum, pretty tame group with a lot of enthusiasts, most really know what they are doing, and you Sir are one of them. Thanks for the post and pictures... I just bumped the 4-in-1 bucket up a notch on my wish list. (gee thanks!)
