4040 steering issue

688 Views 2 Replies 3 Participants Last post by  flyweight
I have a 4040 that had a leaking steering motor seal above tie rods.I replaced it to only have it blow out again after start up. It was suggested to me that I overhaul the seals in the steering motor so I did. This took care of the problem, but after start up wheels turned all the way to left. When I move steering wheel, wheels go all the way in opposite direction. Turn steering wheel again other way ,wheels go 100% the other way. What did I mess up

Welcome to GTT
Did you time spindle to piston when reassembling steering motor?
Another item to check is, that the spool is free to move side-to-side in the bore of the steering valve.
