Im spoiled by the grote lighting on the 2038r. Its like a football stadium. I replaced my X758 headlights with LED. Uses the same bulb as the 4066R I have coming, while a definite improvement not super impressed. Wondering if even after a bulb change if I will be disappointed. Want plenty of light for night time snow removal. Any other recommendations that would bolt right up? Not worried about wiring, bullet connectors crimp on easily.

I replaced the halogen lights on my 4066r with the JW Speaker 7" x 3" LED work lights, model 660. The vsibility to the front and rear is literally night day difference. I also replaced the halogen bulbs in the front grill with some LED lights but I can't remember which ones they were. They too make a difference although not as much as the cab mounted ones. Plus, I didn't was the yellow appearing halogen lights to not mach the cab LEDs.

Were they a direct bolt on?

I ended up ordering these, same lights on my 2038r. They were 95$ ea and I already had a spare so only needed 3. 1800 lumens, metal housing and looks like the brackets will work

They were a direct bolt on howerver the lights take a different wiring connector than the factory halogens. I had my tractor at the dealership for a warranty issue so I had them change the wiring terminals. The tech said it only took about 5 minutes per light and they didn't even charge me.
Are your lights vertical or horizontal mounted. I was looking at the 660's and for the life of me could not see how they would mount horizontal like the factory lights, the factory lights have the mounting bracket at the long end base it seems and the 660 is centered.

Yeah, unfortunately LED bulbs don’t work well in halogen reflectors. You really need to replace with full LED light units.

Absolutely true! I went just the bulb route the first time. While it did work quite well on the Gen 2 2032R headlights, and good enough on the 4720 headlights, it didn't on everything else. Should have just bit the bullet and got the new lights. Replaced All the cab lights with these LED-665/666 Oval LED Light from Larson Lights. Like daytime! Worth EVERY penny, Plus they are direct fit(w/ side ball mount), and plug and play with provided cable. Just make sure to order the right ones. I have a set of 78.00 dollar LED headlights they said would fit my 4720 that don't. Turns out they sent the ones for a 4066.
They don't want to pay the return shipping.

Great Great lights though. I'd buy them again. Bought 60 degree for front, 80 degree for everything else.

Those are the exact same ones that are in the JD premium LED kit. You got the floods that go on the fenders. These 64G01 - Trilliant® T26 LED Work Lights | 1800 Lumens, Pendant Mount, Far Flood, w/ Pigtail, 10-48V are the floods that go on top of the marker light guards.

You happy with the 60 and 80 degrees for front and back?

Have you done anything with headlights or taillights? Taillights would be pretty much useless…I assume those are brake lights only…LED bulb may be more than adequate if there is one for it.

Ecstatic tankerpilot01!! Don't swap out the marker, brake or turns for LED's unless you plan to wire in a resistor. Those will throw an error code. the cab and headlights are almost a must. I'll see if I can find the link for what I bought for the headlights.

Good to know! I was wondering if the Larsen amber ones would work on the four corners of the cab….but I’ll just do the four white “work” lights. Then dig into what you did for the headlights.

Is that because the tractor will tell you if any of the ambers burn out? But it doesn’t “monitor” the work lights and that’s why resistors aren’t needed?

Cheers!

Here are the bulbs for the light inside the cab

These are the headlights for the 4720, only type that will clear the coolers, work the absolute best in the stock assemblies

These are what I used in markers, and turns. I also tried these on my Gen 2 2032R. Thru error code on it also. Got this resistor to fix it, and it will, I temp wired it. All these sat they were built to not throw codes, but it did for me with out resistor.

Hope this helps Tanker. Allen.

That's correct Tanker. I don't believe the ECU/BCU/ Dash monitor those circuits, but I never checked the SM schematics to check. Be aware those resistors throw A LOT of heat. That is why I haven't installed them yet, don't know if I am. A lot of work just for LED's, But I do get pretty OCD for some things. I do like my " light Bling". Funny thing is, it took about 2-3 months to start throwing error codes on the 4720. Instantly on the 2032R. Other members on here had no problems with them.

I went with the floods for a better spread on the cab corners. The far floods seem too focused on my 2038, more like a high beam headlight. Been going back and forth on this quite a bit though...

I think you may have convinced me to cancel the grotes and go with larson. I believe the 4066R takes the side mount. # Edit, I have went with the Larsen lighting and attempting to cancel the grotes. Thanks for the recommendation!

I apoligize for the previous post where I stated they were a direct fit. Your question got me to thinking and reminded me that I had to use a bracket from the 7R series tractors to make it fit. The brackets weren't costly but it did take some time to "fiddle" so they looked like stock and worked properly. I did this 5 years ago and my 67 year old memory failed me a bit.

But replacing the stock halogens with any of the LEDs that have been suggest here are a huge improvement.

Ha ha no worries! I ended up ordering the larson lights reccomended as they look to be a direct fit. Am trying to cancel my order for the grotes. The Larsen are 4200 lumen vs 1800 for the grotes.
