Looking at buying a 4500 John Deere with 72" mower and loader. What are some issues I could run into or be aware of?

Overall they are solid machines...but it's hard to give you any answers with so few details.

The details I have are "runs good, shifts good, needs one tailight lens, mower works good and has all the shields, some rust on the bucket."
I have heard that the electrical dash sometimes has problems. Was just trying to get owner's insight of these.

I bought my 4500 w/FEL & Backhoe sight unseen... It was not treated well by the previous owner.... I mean bad. real bad... but all in all, the tractor it self has been a solid runner once I went thru and PM'ed everything... the only annoying things I deal with is a slight oil burning stench until its warmed up, and a bad temp gauge in the dash... otherwise she's been a solid work horse. It has the normal weeping front axle, and being that it sat outside uncovered, shows some wear and tear, but it's other wise a great machine...

I would suggest you go with an open mind and give it a solid once over before you exchange any money... if everything works, fuel bowl and fluids are clean, and it otherwise appears to be in good shape buy it if the price is right. Nothing is guaranteed in life...roll the dice, you may end with a set of 6's.... or snake eyes....

JD4500 PowerReverser transmission, one owner, bought in 2000. Zero real issues. Dash fogs when running, common issue. Neural safety switch replaced. And that's all so far.
Hours? Maintenance history?
