Hello. I have a 455 and an x758.

The 455 is rear-wheel drive and the x758 is four-wheel drive.

I would like to have a front end loader for one of these.

Which machine would you recommend I attach a front end loader to? Or is there not enough difference in the two to make one better for a FEL?

Thanks.

My opinion only, but I would choose the machine with 4wd, plus it’s the newer one.

Sad to say but I agree with Kenny and I'd add that finding a loader will be a bit easier. Its sad because loaders for the 4xx tractors are becoming difficult to source and expensive to boot.

well for the 455 you have two Options the Model 40 or the CTC Loader for the X758 really for a Traditional Loader your Only Option is the CTC 2013 John deere x ultimate Unless Your a Good metal Fabricator then You Can get a 45 loader to fit by fabricating your own sub frame. I rant a Deere 2WD 425 with a 40 Loader for 3 years Then a 2WD X485 for 11 years with a 45 Loader. I still run a 45 Loader On My AWD X748 for the Last 4 years. The AWD tractors are Nice with a Loader But the 2WD can do the same Jobs Just as well

Keep In Mind for either Tractor You will need the following

X758 BW15044 TRANSAXLE HYDROSTATIC RELIEF VALVE 4WD or AWD
X758 M146148 free-wheeling valve control lever is also required. 2WD or 4WD & AWD
X758 AM134625 Lock out Valve

455 AM121248 Pressure Relief Valve
455 M146148 free-wheeling valve control lever is also required.

Thanks for the info, everyone.

Sergeant, is that your Deere and loader in that picture?

How difficult/easy is it to install the BW15044 and M146148 on the x758. I already installed the AM134625.

thanks

I had a 40 loader on my 455. Was a nice setup once you shim the pump. I had a lot of weight on the wheels and 3 point. Awd would still be nicer though as you have the load over the Front and those wheels can pull too.

I’d go with the X748 for sure. The k92 in an x allows shimming to 1500 psi, the k91 in a 4x5 is limited to 1250. I had an awesome 445 until I added a model 40. I ended up selling the whole package to get a 420 with loader and separate pump. I’ve seen x series with 45 loaders and they got their nut back. I use them to move attachments so it’s all or nothing. Moving dirt you can take a smaller bite.

The other advantage is 4wd. It will help in snow, otherwise if you lose traction it’s because your off balance.

No that is from the CTC website

You Have to remove the fender Pan. Then it's rather simple after that to replace the Valve

Here is My X748 with 45 Loader from Last year next to My former 1025R TLB In both summer & winter dress:bigthumb:
