PLEASE HELP!!!!! I have a JD 445 with a 47" blower mounted. All of a sudden while blowing the door yard today the auger stopped spinning! The 2nd stage blade is spinning and would send the snow up and out of the shoot but the AUGER itself isnt spinning. I need help ASAP as I have 16" of snow blocking my driveway and about 30" from the state plow at the end of the driveway and a highly agitated wife!!!

I can't say that I've ever sheared both sides at once. The shear bolts are grade 5, 1/4-20x1 inch bolts with a nylock nut. If you've never sheared one before, there should be some spares in a few drilled holes back by the base of the chute.
Maybe give your wife a shovel, that should keep her busy for a while.

not the sheers. The auger wont free spin as if the botls snapped. There is still tension there but no engagement of the auger.....and the wife cares for the 5 little kids! If i give her a shovel I will get hit with it!
That doesn't sound good… Getting hit with the shovel, or it not being in the shear pins.
Unfortunately, your problem sounds internal to the gearbox.

I would think that if something in the gearbox went the auger wouldnt have resistence behind it....right?

You weren't using Grade #8 shears bolts where you?

Ive never had to replace he sheers.....so I dont know what know what grade hey are. The snow is light and fluffy and worked great for last weeks storm. I didnt hit anything on my first pass so I dont know what would have sheered the bolts off. The auger disengaged when I put into reverse as it should do but when I went to kick it on again for the next pass there wasnt any snow blowing! I got off to check and see what was up and noticed that the impeller blade was still screaming along but no action from the auger. I shut it down to see if it was he sheers but there was still resistance to the auger. I brought it into the garage and swept out what I could and checked what I could without full dissection.

Sounds like either #26 Shaft or #15 Gear within the gearbox has stripped. Remote possibility may be the #24 or #25 key that drives the auger shaft but most likely the gearbox has to come apart to diagnose the problem any further.

There is a shear pin between the secondary and the gear box on mine. You might have broke that one.

Btw I broke both end ones on mine Sunday. I found a cinder block my dad hid.

His impeller is still spinning though. Where is the shear pin you are referring to?

This one.
It's hard to make out, but that looks like the one for the impeller. Is that right?
If it is the one I'm thinking, if that shears the impeller won't spin but the augurs still will spin. The OP's impeller is spinning, but the augers are not.

Ok. I hadn't looked at the drawing. Just my blower.

If he's lucky its key #25
