Wanted to make this thread as reference for others searching. You can put the wider 31.5x13-16.5 tires on. The circumference is pretty close and deere offers the sizes as an option. Obviously you need to get new wheels to mount th wider tires.

My tire supplier can get several 31.5 x 13 - 16.5 tires. The Galaxy, a Firestone, and a BKT. Personally, I like both the Firestone and BKT better than the Galaxy, and they both cost less.

Galaxy Hippo, Max PSI: 30, Max Load: 3640 lbs

Firestone Duraforce DT, Max PSI: 60, Max Load: 5300 lbs

BKT Skid Power HD, Max PSI: 70, Max Load: 3920 lbs

NTS has this 9.75" wide 6 hole wheel. The specs are 16.5''D x 9.75''W, 6 hole on 6.000 '' center, 4.625 '' Pilot Hole; 16.0 mm Bolt Hole. Update: These tractors use a 14 mm front wheel bolt, so need to measure the hole diameter of the stock wheel to see if it is 14 mm, or something closer to 16 mm.

Well the jd wheels are 230 a piece so if those wheels work that would be awesome. The jd number ta13270. The tires I have are a power king hd+. Not sure who makes them, looks identical to bkt though.

I'll take a lug off and measure. Surely the hole is bigger than 14mm. The other issue would be offset.

Looks like the NTS wheel has the valve stem on the inside of the rim. Not a deal breaker but does make servicing a little challenging for old cranky knees like mine. A fella could easily add another valve stem to the outside though.

I don't see that. There is a stem on the outside if I'm not mistaken. The holes on the rims is 15mm. Looking at the bevel on the lugs I would say 16mm would work ok. Bolt pattern and center bore are correct. The offset is what concerns me. I have no info on those figures from either deere or aftermarket company. I don't really want to pay that much for a wheel from deere but I may have to.

Using the wheel pictured would be showing the back side if used on a 3 series since Deere suggests the wheels to be set narrow for loader work but could be used in the wide position for other chores. Maybe the 4 series can use the wheels in wide setting for loader work?

Well that's where my caution comes from with the offset. The current wheels on there are close on full lock to touching, pretty sure (and by looking at pictures of the 4m HD) the wheels have a pretty negative offset so the backspace remains close to what the stock wheels have, so as to clear everything while turning. The wheel pictured doesn't appear to have that, although noone will really know without some measurements. It may be too much hassle to save 200$ and be wrong with shipping and the time to figure it out etc..

I'm assuming you're referring to the way the inner hub is dished in or out. Can't tell with the picture but the lug holes should be beveled for the lug nuts, would tell which position it's suppose to be in. I'd say the way it's pictured is likely suppose to be outwards, hence the valve stem etc.. But yes, looking at the JD's front wheels they are all dished inwards. It's really just a function of again, backspace and offset that they wanted. I doubt they are two position wheels..?

Most of 'em are two position. My stock JD fronts and rears are on my 3039R. I would prefer to run the fronts on wide if for no other reason than the more aggressive look but I mostly use mine for loader work so I guess it's best to leave mine set narrow.

Broke down and got the jd wheels. Tires are darn near the same height as the stock ones. 4x4 actually seems to engage easier even.

I saw a 4052M HD at my dealer yesterday and quickly noticed the wider tires. I searched here to see if anyone converted their 4R……. Greatly appreciate the thread and confirmation. I also like the stem guard on the rim. I’ve ripped off 2 to date doing grapple work. I’m going to order the wider rims and tires!

No problem, i see problem threads with no resolution and it drives me nuts. Haven't needed 4x4 yet but I doubt any issues. Steering wise they clear everything so far. Tractor is primarily a shovel for me so only a few hours with the new tires. Like I said 4x4 doesn't take as much effort to engage, I'm sure some minor differences in ratio won't have any lasting effects. Stem guard is nice too!

Exactly what I am doing with my 4R sooner rather than later. I am doing it for floatation on soft ground, likely easier on the tire traveling loaded "?" and just because it looks better in my opinion. So I didn't see an all up cost listed, believe I was quoted around $1300-1500 for the two Galaxy tires and JD rims, is that in the ball park? Or should I order elsewhere vs my local dealer?

The wheels are 230 ea from jd I know, then figure valve stems and such and whatever your choice of tires. I didn't go with the hippo tires as I'm a tire dealer and got a skid steer tire in the same size. I thought the tread matched the rear a little better although cost was more the driving factor. I'm sure 12-1500 would be conservative.

Well, that makes me feel better about the quoted price @ the dealer. I'm learning fairly quickly, bigger equipment = exponentially bigger hit to the wallet. Doesn't seem to be a linear curve.

So even though they say 31x13 16.5, they measure close to the 28.5(height) stock R4’s?
Did you end up changing your rears as well or just leave them stock R4’s.
No 4wd issues with rolling circumference? Basically,
I want to do the same for added float in the front. TIA!

Just left stock rears, they are the option with the 4m HD vs the larger rear tires. Height is very close. I think the stock tires are a bit taller, as I can feel the 4x4 is easier to shift now, before I had to jolt the tractor to remove the bind momentarily. You don't use 4x4 on dry ground anyhow, slippage will occur either way.

Hey puckgrinder, how are things going after a year of running the HD front wheels / tires? Did you end up siping them? 4wd been ok? Noticeable difference in floatation from the regular R4’s? Lastly, does the edge of the larger tire round over at all or is it harsh and rear up lawn etc. thanks - much appreciated.
